When we look at our natural surroundings we typically see subtle variation in color sometimes mixed with areas of bright focus; the bright red prairie flower or the wildflower under the shade of the great Sequoias. We see and hear patterns; a bird call, gusts of wind, the dripping of water. The natural world makes announcements as well; thunderclaps, landscape variations, the movement and migration of animals. We often don't give these cues a second thought but if they were gone we would find it much more difficult to understand our world. Good design has these elements. It introduces us to new things in a way we feel comfortable with and yet throws in the unexpected that delights us or makes us think. Good design is just art doing what art does at its best; communicating ideas and information in a way that touches us emotionally.
A History of Design
Artotems Co. had its start back in 1990. It was known as Pod Systems for many years. I should add that was long before the days of "pod" anything as is the craze now. At that time it produced software for Healthcare systems and slowly transitioned to producing multimedia software for many purposes. It has been reborn as Artotems Co. in recent years. The drumbeat of good design that communicates on a very human level has been the driving force behind the company since the beginning. Whether it was client information systems or digital tools for creative research the first step has always been good design. | |
